Music is so important in my life. It has literally been a soundtrack on my journey. My first exposure to music that I can remember is in the sixties, my Mom playing Beatles records. A few years later, Deep Purple but at school, I was exposed to Classical music and won class contests that allowed me to compete in district competitions identifying bits of composers. Later on while skateboarding I was a punk rocker turned New Wave rider.
My friends were in bands, they still are. My son plays a Flying V in his band. I listen to music while snow surfing, hang gliding, flying a ultralight, on long road trips, with friends but mostly while I’m alone. I’ve written about trips where music imprinted memories.
I’ve timed the releases of favorite music to listen to while on big trips. Listening to songs that I knew they were going to be hits while I was seeing new sights. The Gorillaz while I was in Hawaii, Frank Ocean while I was in Japan.
Below are some picks of music that I enjoy. I often visit the list and listen, I update it and this page is dynamic, it changes. This will give you an idea where music is in my mind… Diverse, unique and cyclical, as well as changing and the song remains the same, it feels good to augment life with music.
