The Complete Nikon System ~ An Illustrated Equipment Guide by Peter Braczko

I use this book quite a bit. The book details the line up of Nikon cameras until about 1995 or about the time of the F5. I own an FE2 and a F3 as well as a couple of EM and a whole bunch of manual focus Nikkor and Nikon lenses so this book is a great resource for me in the way of research.

Part of being a photographer is understanding equipment. This is a book that details the equipment. The Nikon line of manual focus lenses is legendary. One of the reasons is the way that the lens mounts to the camera. Nikon has been using the same mount nearly since its inception.

The “F-Mount” is an interchangeable lens mounting system. It is Nikon’s choice for 35 mm single lens reflex cameras. Since 1959, Nikon has been using this format. Many of the older lens are made with exacting precision, metal and glass without any plastic. The markings are engraved and paint filled creating visual mastery that is cataloged in this book.

I have built my lens collection using this book to assist me in my choices along with professional photographers such as Ken Rockwell’s HP.

The Nikon line is easily referenced with their designated catalog identification for each part facilitating ease of identification when sourcing individual components such as cameras, lenses and accessories.

With this book and the Nikon system, I am able to use the same F-mount lens for my 30 year old 35mm film camera on my current digital camera as I use the create content in film, digital images and video.

The Nikon System book is integral to my knowledge in understanding what is available and compatible with my equipment.
