Nikon L35 AF
s/n 0533857
Why would I choose to buy a point and shoot camera? I just realized my dream of owning an F6. Just got it back from Nikon service, internal battery changed, firmware upgraded, cleaned, gone through by Nikon. I have one roll through it and it is awesome. Then why would I buy a point and shoot camera?
They are fun.
Unobtrusive.
And this one takes great pictures. I got it home, cleaned it, loaded a roll of Portra 800 and stuck it in my littlest camera bag.
I’m ready.
I can see this replacing my everyday camera, the Nikon FG. Even though it’s a small SLR, it’s big. Especially at night with the SB-15. The L35 is big for a point and shoot but it’s small. Small enough for a coat pocket. The petite strap just so for around the neck. It is a different sound than the MD-E and shutter of the FG. The frame advance can be delayed by keeping the shutter release depressed.
I found mine on Craigslist. A couple of e-mails and I’m driving home with it. It came with a couple of lenses. I did not want lenses for this one so I gave them back to the gentleman, “Here, you keep them.” I had offered a fair price but he will probably sell them. This is not the camera for me to use extra lenses. I may use a yellow filter on black and white film. I have a lens hood that I like, I’m using it now.
I don’t have much more to say about it other than I know it’s going to be fun. I’ve carried a first gen Canon Sure Shot back in the day. A Pentax 90WR, a small Sony and a Nikon digital. I know the deal, I’ve done it before. It’s a snap shot camera and if I take my time, I’m pretty sure I’m going to get some amazing images from the 35mm f2.8, one of my favorite focal lengths. Built in flash for fill or lighting.
