| The white pyramid is twenty feet tall, it is former AZ Governor Hunt’s Tomb |
Hunt’s Tomb is a bit of a mystery. It can be seen from certain places in Phoenix and Tempe, in other places, it is blocked by the Papago Buttes.
From Wikipedia…
Hunt's Tomb is a tomb in the shape of a small white pyramid behind a fence at the top of a hill within Papago Park, Phoenix, Arizona, United States. George W. P. Hunt (Arizona's first governor) had the tomb built in 1931 to entomb his wife. He was placed there after his death in 1934. Their daughter and his wife's family are also buried there.
You get there by taking the turn off on Galvin Parkway like you are going to the Phoenix Zoo. Drive past Hole in the Rock uphill and park. It’s a gentle 100 yard hike up the rocky slope to the knoll flat top where the tomb resides.
Views from Hunt’s Tomb are gorgeous. On this particular day, I missed my blue sky window. Early during blue hour, the sky was clear but a thin front of clouds moved in and instead of a one and done, I’ll have to come back and grab a few more pictures.
