Howling Man

There is a part of me that wants to call the set of petroglyphs, Puerco Pueblo and the part that won out is going to call this the Howling Man hike. I’m not even sure if that is the name for this one. It’s the name I’ve heard a couple of established petroglyph hunters call it so again, that’s why I’m going with this name.

I’ve been here before, that trip is under Puerco Pueblo.

This one is not, it’s the Howling Man hike.

Basically I finished it today.

I primarily used one camera, the Nikon D780 and two lenses, the AF VR Nikkor 80-400mm f4.5 - 5.6 D and the AF Nikkor 20-35mm f2.8 D. I used the long lens to look for petroglyphs and took pictures with it. When I turned around, I switched to the wide angle and photographed some on the way back.

At my farthest point in, I found an interesting panel, walked up to it and pulled out my stool and sat beneath it. In front of me was this panel, not visible to me, a discovery and a very cool one at that.

I am 100% sure that I missed a few and that’s ok. I’ll be back to visit, not for that, this is what I do and it feels right to go sit for a bit with the Howling Man.
