Buckhorn Baths

There is a book about Buckhorn Baths that I'm going to quote a few statistics from. I bought the book because I already had the story written in my thoughts after seeing the grounds. I knew what was going on. But the book is probably fact based as it was written with the owners family.

The title of the book is, "Buckhorn Mineral Baths and Wildlife Museum" and it is written by Jay Mark and Ronald L. Peters. The book was copywritten in 2017 and the ESBN number is 13 978-1-4671-2696-0. 

It tells the story of Buckhorn Baths.Ted Sliger and Alice O'Barr began building Buckhorn Baths in 1936. It began as a gas station and a store that sold Indian jewelry and rugs (Native American) as well as Hunting and Fishing Licenses, fishing tackle and taxidermy services. 

Ted built a large addition to showcase the Arizona Wildlife that was collected from his taxidermy service hence the name, "Buckhorn" was coined.

The property did not have water and the entrepreneurs tiring of hauling water drilled a well in 1939 and struck 112 degree water filled with minerals ideal for a health spa. 

In 1947, the New York Giants baseball team made Buckhorn Baths their home away from home during the Cactus League season.

I'm not interested in telling the story of Buckhorn Baths. Times have changed and this is just another story of America steam rolling the indigineous people.
