Nikkor 135mm f2.8 AI

Nikkor 135mm f2.8 AI
s/n 840814

I owned the Series E version and it was one of my first lenses as I started to gather to build my kit. It’s also the lens that I began to find out about the crazy world of all the different online reviewers. This lens brought me to “the Angry Photographer” and to Ken Rockwell’s site.

This time, I chose the AI version over the AI-S for two reasons. One, the AI version has a longer throw for focus. The AI-S is a shorter focal adjustment. Quicker for say, street photography. I don’t need quick, I need the longer throw for nailing the focus.

The optics are the same between the two versions. The AI version is slightly heavier build, the AI/S is slightly lighter in build.

Two, the AI version is typically less desired therefore it is less expensive.

Taste great, less filling, my kind of lens.

I’ll use this one for still life and in town walk about.
