Zoom Nikkor 100-300 f5.6 AIS

Zoom Nikkor 100-300 f5.6 AIS

I bought this lens from eBay, I had purchased the Zoom 80-200mm and liked the focal length but again, at the time I didn’t understand the intended use. It was 100mm more, a 100mm more magnifying power for $50 delivered! But as I wrote previously, I came to understand the Zoom function and the variable focal length instead of pure magnification.

Like the 80-200mm, it was in a white sock in a bin to be sold as it just wasn’t what I thought it was. I have much more experience with Zoom lenses now so I’ve pulled it out of the bin, put a Hoya Skylight Filter on it for lens protection and a HN-24 lens hood was sourced.

I’m going to keep it as it’s in great shape and it’s really quite a nice variable focal length option. I love a prime lens but the fact of the matter is Zoom lenses are filled with choices, options. It’s not prime vs. zoom. Nope. It’s about a choice of options.

I will place the images I captured here. I have a few that I took with the EM and FE2 but they are more of a test of magnification and they are utilitarian pictures. I’ll do a shoot with the DSLR to learn it and then move it to the F3.
