AF-S Nikkor 18-35 f3.5-4.5 G ED FX

AF-S Nikkor 18-35mm f3.5-4.5 G ED FX

This is one of my favorite lenses. I use it with my Nikon D780 and the F6. It is the perfect lens for close quarter shooting of the petroglyphs I’m collecting. I sometimes use it for architectural photography. I find it a versatile lens in that I can use it in a wide variety of situations. Below are pictures from both cameras.

I really wanted the AF-S Nikkor 16-35 f4 G ED VR FX but I just could not justify the added expense. What that lens would offer me was not worth the higher price. I can hand hold the 18-35 in low light without the VR and get the desired result, I just could not justify spending more. The 18-35 f3.5-4.5 G was the obvious choice. After purchasing and using both, I know I made the right choice. The comparisons from professional photographers rang true with me. I use their advice and make my choices based in my own experiences.

I rented the 16-35 and used it to shoot my son and his band so I have a little experience with it and right from the first image, I knew they are in the same league. The below pictures are from the AF-S Nikkor 16-35 f4 G ED VR FX
